In 2020, the CARES Act was signed (Covid-19 Aid, Relief, and聽Economic Security Act). The CARES Act created an education stimulus package that included a Higher聽Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) which contained over $6 billion for postsecondary聽education emergency grants to students who experienced a disruption of their education as a聽result of this Covid-19 pandemic. These emergency grant funds are intended to be used for聽鈥渆xpenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus (including eligible聽expenses under a student鈥檚 cost of attendance such as food, housing, course materials,聽technology, health care, and childcare).鈥� The grants also provide institutions with expenses聽related to the disruption of campus operations on account of the Covid-19 pandemic.
